Surgical Weight Loss Testimonials
I had my Lap Band surgery in March 2005. On the day of the surgery I weighed 262 pounds. I now weigh 182. I’m very pleased at the progress that I have made. My life feels happier and healthier. Thank you, Dr. Hamn, for giving me the tools to have successful weight loss!
First, I’d like to say, “Lap-Band works-IT REALLY DOES”.
Second, I’d like to say the old saying, “Good things happen to those who wait”. Well, this describes the journey you will be taking with Dr. Cribbins and your lap-band.
My story is nothing you haven’t heard before. I grew up very happy, but always 4 sizes larger than what I should be. Being in a family of 6, and everyone overweight, it seemed like we were always on a diet. I tried all the healthy and UNHEALTHY diets, and it got worse when I was living on my own. Instead of the freshman 10, I gained 50.
At age 26, I was living life wonderfully with a new job, and newly married, then that’s when the worst happened. I ruptured my lower disc while working out and had to go on disability and have back surgery. My spirit and body finally broke, and my weight ballooned to 283 size 22.. It seemed like there was no other choice but to have lap band surgery, and that’s when we found Dr. Cribbins and his welcoming staff. Now 3 ½ years later I am a VERY healthy 131 lb. and a size 2. I have no more back pain and I’m off the pain medicine.
I lost a total of 151 lb. without doing any exercise or really watching what I ate. Dr. Cribbins and his staff are like family, and they are a wonderful group to work with on this journey you will be taking. A very caring group who want you to succeed.
Life is Good now, and remember, “That good things happen to those who wait”.
Thank you Dr. Cribbins, and to your wonderful team for helping me get a second chance at a healthy life.
Finally! A permanent solution to weight loss. Over the years, I’ve gained and lost the same 50-60 pounds too many times to count. I tried everything from hypnosis, the ear staple, liquid diets and even weight watchers. I would lose weight, but it eventually came back. This last time I just couldn’t get the weight off and my blood pressure was on the way up. Since I have a significant cardiac history in my family, I decided I needed to do something about it. I went to the seminar with the intention of having lap band surgery. After learning about the gastric sleeve surgery, I decided that was the surgery for me. Dr. Hamn said if I lost 48 pounds the surgery would be considered successful. After 7 months I have lost 75 pounds. I’m wearing size 4 jeans! I couldn’t be happier with my results. My insurance excluded weight loss surgery (which I still don’t understand), so I paid for my surgery. I was discussing this with a physician friend and she told me to consider it an investment in my health. That said it all. Thanks to Dr. Hamn and his staff for helping me make an investment in my health.
My name is Angie Wright, and I am a 34 year old wife and mother of two beautiful little girls. The last year of my life has changed thanks to my decision to have the Lapband surgery in October of 2007. I was very apprehensive about going through with the surgery; after 5 years of trying to lose weight, I felt like nothing was going to work. I had tried many different diets of course — they would work for the short term, but I would always gain the weight back and then some. My weight is something I had struggled with all my life, but this was the highest weight I had ever been, and I was so out of control with my eating habits.
I knew a drastic change was going to have to happen. Lap band surgery was something I had thought about for a long while but just did not know if I could go through with it. After my seminar with Dr.Cribbins, I knew, for sure, it was something I could do and it was the right decision for me. His careful explanation of all my options and of the Lap Band surgery itself made me feel comfortable and let me know I was in good hands. After the seminar, I met with Dr.Cribbins and Dawn who took the time to listen to my concerns and answer my questions. The office staff was wonderful and gave many offers of encouragement.
When I got the call my surgery was approved, I knew there was no going back and my life was going to change. The appointment before my surgery was very informative – Dawn and Dr.Cribbins answered all my questions concerning post surgery diet and what to expect. The day of my surgery I weighed 225 lb. and my BMI was 43.5. I followed all the post op. diet directions. It was difficult at first but after the second week everything seemed to be easier. When I finally did get to eat regular meals, I learned to make better choices with food and eat smaller portions. By the first post op visit I was already losing weight. My clothes were getting loose and I had more energy to do things with my family. By the time I had my second fill I had already lost 65 lb. It has been a year now and I have lost a total of 85 lb. I feel and look younger, have more energy and can now shop in the regular section at department stores. Sometimes I can even wear junior sizes! My husband tells me everyday how beautiful I am and even though he never said anything about my weight gain I know he is so proud of the way I look today. The weight loss is so extreme that when I see people who I haven’t seen in a while they don’t even recognize me.
I recommend this surgery to anyone who has struggled with their weight and feel like they have exhausted all other options because it truly does work. Thank you Dr.Cribbins for giving me back control of my life! I would also like to Thank Dawn and the rest of the office staff for all their support during my weight loss journey.
“It is Possible” Just when I thought this would be another failure; I did it! I know it is hard trying to figure out what surgery is right for you. The Lapband was not my first choice. I was considering the Gastric Bypass, but decided on the less invasive procedure. That’s when I decided to let the top Bariatric Surgeon Dr Stephen V. Hamn perform my surgery. You must research the doctor you select. Any General Surgeon can perform this surgery but you want a Physician that has experience and you will find upon research that
Dr. Stephen V. Hamn has been in the Bariatric world for a long time. Not to miss the fact that he will let you know exactly how this thing works, no beating around the bush. It is work and dedication, not a quick fix. Just a tool, my built in diet. It has been a difficult road at times, but the Lapband was the extra tool I needed to add to my diet. A few Adjustments to the band will adjust your behavior. Lol…I had a great experience will all of the office staff at Dr. Hamn and Dr. Cribbins office, like family. Surgical Assistant’s second to none. There is a lot to consider when you have one of these surgeries and this office has what it takes for a great experience and successful surgery.
A Special thanks to everyone in the office for adding to the success in my journey.
Dr. Hamn I know you only did the surgery and I’m responsible for the rest but thank you again for being the Surgeon you are, really caring about what you do. I know my liver was huge.lol
Love You All Lots,
I knew that I could not lose weight by myself and keep it off. My many years of weight loss had been a yo-yo. More than once, I would lose 35 pounds then gain 45 pounds or lose 55 pounds then gain 65 pounds. I was either “on a diet” or “not on a diet”.
I finally decided to get medical help and made an appointment to see Dr. Hamn about getting the lap band. My surgery was in September 2003. I’m not saying it has been easy since the surgery, but I have never regretted it.
